“Canopy Amble” // Capitol Quarters
Emma is a painter, illustrator, map maker and Odditree Society collaborator. In her practice, she tells stories of the world around her, often in the form of hand drawn maps, inked natural foliage and expressive portraits. Whether charting someone’s memories in a map or creating community based art outdoors, she see success in work that delights the viewer and heightens their attentiveness to the world around them.
Ann is a founding member of the Odditree Society. Her creative work revolves around how we experience and interpret trees and other elements of our green infrastructure.
Emma and Ann share a love of maps and exploring their environment on foot. Canopy Amble was inspired by their fondness for trees, a walk around the block, and their awe of an older sprawling live oak on the corner of 8th and Nueces. The mural and paired map invite you into the surrounding urban forest for a tree themed stroll.
